A Picture On Your Resume?

Kent R.

Over the next several weeks, I’ll be responding to frequently asked questions that have not been addressed here on the blog recently.

Q: Should I put my picture on my resume?

A: You can, and some people do. My two cents… leave your picture off of your resume.

This seems to be becoming a bit of a hot topic again, as people look for creative ways to stand out from the crowd in a packed job market.  I’m seeing an increase in the use of pictures and understand the need to differentiate.

Except in the rarest of situations (global clients, etc.), I stand by my opinion. While a picture may effectively set you apart, it also increases the possibility that you will experience employment discrimination.
