LOOKING FOR A JOB? PURSUE PEOPLE YOU KNOW.
Kent R.
I get many questions that focus on how to find a job, particularly which job boards/websites are the most promising. No matter what avenues you pursue in your search for more meaningful work... The most promising avenue to pursue is people you know.
I was recently reminded of this when, again, I heard from a past client who got his "dream" job by getting his resume in the hands of people who could help him. In his case, a friend introduced him to a contact at a company that was hiring. Six weeks – and a lot of interviews – later, it ended with a job offer. My client reports that his contact got him noticed, but that his powerful resume was critical in buoying him through the process, communicating his achievements and his potential in a concise and compelling fashion.
So, with today's post, let's get back to the basics:
1) Make sure you have an awesome resume. 2) Get it in the hands of real people that can make things happen.
