TANDEM’S RESUME TIPS: FOLLOWING UP ON YOUR RESUME PAYS OFF
Kent R.
It’s been a busy couple of weeks in the world of Tandem - a lot of work and a lot of travel. When I’ve opened up my more-packed-than-usual inbox, it’s been gratifying to see a few messages from people (some past clients, others not) who wanted to share a comment on my last post about following up on a resume. One person, Marshall, was inspired by the blog to start sending off follow up letters. He sent off a message to share that he got an e-mail acknowledging his follow up letter. He couldn’t believe it (his words!). The company also gave him their timeframe for screening resumes and interviewing.
Another e-mailer, Sara, wanted to let me know that she routinely follows up on her resumes. She said that, at a recent interview, her interviewer mentioned their appreciation of her follow up. They appreciated the fact that it gave them an idea of the type of employee she would likely be (professional, diligent, etc.).
The verdict? Send off an incredible resume, and then send off an equally powerful follow up letter.
