TANDEM’S TIPS: HOW TO SPEAK TO WEAKNESSES IN AN INTERVIEW
Kent R.
Over the next several weeks, I’ll be responding to frequently asked questions that have not been addressed here on the blog recently. Q: What’s the best way to approach the inevitable interview questions that address weaknesses?
A: I am routinely telling people to stop buying into the notion that weaknesses are best avoided or disguised. Leaders in healthy work environments know all too well that we are all human; each of us has unique abilities in addition to things that we are working on. So, it’s best to acknowledge the fact that an important part of professional development is being aware of limitations and areas that might need some attention.
If asked, respond succinctly about what you are doing to develop professionally. It’s ultimately a positive thing. Outside of that, though, remain laser focused on your strengths and the value that you bring.
