Q: What is the real benefit of Career Development assessments? A: I think that a lot of people have the same question when they consider how to get their career (and resume!) on track or boosted up to the next level.  First off, click here to check out Tandem's page dedicated to Career Development.  The information that you'll find will give you some core information. There is one clear, foundational idea behind professional development activities: getting clients in touch with true strengths.  The biggest realization for most people is, usually, that one's natural strengths are not necessarily those things that one is good at.  Or, rather - just because you're good at something doesn't mean it's a strength.

That's why, for example, you'll hear people say things like: "I'm good at Accounting, but I don't really enjoy it."  Many people get swept away early on in their careers; they get promoted and move up the ladder because they are good at something. For many people, this is fine. For many others, though, there's a nagging feeling that won't go away.  A feeling of discontent, urging them to examine other avenues.

This is one scenario where Development activities are very useful.  They help in getting you on track.  The wide array of assessments available today are a perfect starting point; they do an incredible job of quickly identifying areas for exploration.
