COMPANIES ARE HIRING!
Kent R.
A few weeks ago, it was widely reported that Google was hiring. I was bombarded by inquiries for help from people who were interested in applying for work because of the announcement. Not long after, it was reported that Google had 75,000 applicants in one week - an all time high, I believe.
It's a rough landscape out there. A situation like this is a great reminder of just how many people are competing for jobs - especially jobs with the biggies: Google, Apple, Amazon, Facebook, Microsoft, etc. Many of the people who got in touch asked what they should do to make their resumes stand out from the crowd at Google.
I suggested that they do the same thing that they should always do:
Present a resume that powerfully highlights what you've accomplished in the past and what you can bring to the company you are interested in.
If you don't know what differentiates you – what makes you a great candidate – get to it. YOU have the potential to be someone that brings a unique combination of strengths, talent and personality to the right company. Figure out what that is and build a plan.
Your next job is waiting.
