Career Development - Doing What You Love
Kent R.
Last week, I received an e-mail from someone who said that he had lost energy for his job search. He was tired of getting rejection letters for jobs that he didn't even want in the first place. He went on to talk about having no passion for his career. A few months ago, as we were rolling into 2010, I wrote this:
...Like many people who have contacted me lately, you may be trying to find your footing in terms of what makes sense for your career (and/or life) in the year ahead. I encourage you to make it as easy as possible by tapping into your natural talents and skill set. Strive to be more of the person you ARE as opposed to wasting energy in pursuit of others’ definitions of success and happiness. It can be difficult, but it’s very rewarding....
With the economy the way that it is - and with more people doing some serious soul searching - I continue to hear from a lot of people who feel as though they are pursing the wrong career. In many cases, they are good at what they do, but they have no authentic passion for it. Many feel an expectation to "keep at it" in order to meet others' expectations.
If you are one of these people, consider some Career Development activities.
Your job search, resume, workday (whatever) will not feel 100% "right" until you put your natural talents to work. The good news is that we all have natural talents. The bad news is that many people have not tapped into them.
Send off an e-mail to learn more about the Career Development services that I offer. Identifying your unique strengths and abilities can be a life changing milestone.
